At the helm is founder, pianist, composer, arranger, and musical director Marcus Hernandez, whose musical journey began in New York City's vibrant Salsa scene during the late 1970s. Hernandez founded the original Fuego ’77, which signed with Alegre Records, a division of the legendary Fania Records, and earned acclaim while performing alongside and collaborating with respected artists such as Adalberto Santiago and Rafael De Jesús. Decades later, his passion for authentic Salsa remains the driving force behind Orchestra Fuego's continued success.

After relocating to Tampa, Florida, Hernandez launched Orchestra Fuego in 2015 with a vision of blending the energy and authenticity of classic New York Salsa with contemporary arrangements, Afro-Cuban influences, and modern production techniques. The result is a powerful and distinctive sound that appeals to both longtime Salsa enthusiasts and a new generation of Latin music fans.

Since its formation, Orchestra Fuego has released an impressive catalog of award-winning recordings, including multiple studio albums, charting singles, and numerous professionally produced music videos. Their acclaimed album Nostalgia earned international recognition and major honors, establishing Orchestra Fuego as one of the leading independent Salsa groups in the world.
